Fall

My goodness.  Time certainly seems to fly by.  I am a bit sad that this blog has not flourished in a way that I had hoped when I first started.  It seems that it is more and more difficult to find the time to post.  But I am determined to keep it going and to post often as I can.  Let me fill you in on what has been going on.  Kathi, Carla and I have been extremely busy.  Two weeks ago, we participated in our first Morton Pumpkin Festival Craft Show.  This was very exciting for us.  As I have posted on this blog, we started our company, SistersCg, almost two years ago.  We did a few local craft shows and earlier this year were so very fortunate to be able to rent a space at Second Betty, an awesome shop in Peoria Heights.  We also wanted to stay involved in a few craft shows each year.  The Morton Pumpkin Festival Craft Show was at the top of our list.  Early this spring, I submitted our application but received the news that there were no spaces available, however our application would be kept on file in case of a cancellation.  This is a large craft show with a wait list to get in, so I did not think our chances were good.  About ten days before the start of the festival, I received a phone call saying that there had been a cancellation and asked if we wanted the space.  We were so excited and of course said yes!  However, that meant some very long nights of crafting and planning.  Remember, the three of us still work full-time jobs!!!  What a great time we had.  This is a 3-day outside event.  The first day was cold and wet.  In some of the pictures below, you can see our little area wrapped to keep out the wind and rain.  The next two days were very nice.  We sold a lot of things and made some wonderful contacts and new friends.  We spent last Saturday morning at Second Betty rearranging our little corner of the world with delightful fall items.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.Read More »

FAIR TIME!!!

As summer starts to settle in and the temperature rises, it also signals the start of the summer festival season.  And the second week in July always means the start of the Heart of Illinois Fair.  For many years I volunteered in the Foods/Textiles building and even served a stint as the Superintendent of these wonderful competitions.  When my full-time job made it impossible for me to devote the time and energy needed, I, with much thought and consideration and a bit of sadness, stepped down.  The good side of this is that I can now enter in the competition, which I love.   And what is even better is that my granddaughter Lainey also competes.  I am glad to see that she is following in grandma’s footsteps!

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

I hope all of you had a glorious Easter weekend.  After a long, bitterly cold, record-setting snowfall winter, the weather on Easter Sunday was perfect.  Sunny with temperatures in the low 80’s.

I wanted to share with you the view from my second floor office window.  Isn’t this spectacular!!!!  A week ago Monday, when the temperatures dipped to 30 degrees and we had snow (yes, just last week!!!)  I was so afraid that the blooms would not survive.  But they did and are now in full bloom!!

tree-thing

It is going to be an incredibly busy two weeks for SistersCg.  We will be hosting a bridal shower for our dear niece Britney (Carla’s daughter) this Sunday at Pat’s house.

And then on Saturday, May 3, SistersCg will be traveling to Clinton, IL to participate in the Six Chics Spring Market at the Dewitt County Fairgrounds.  We look forward to seeing many friends and fellow vendors at this exciting event.  And also we will hopefully find some interesting items to purchase!!!!

Thanks for stopping by.  Take care and enjoy the amazing spring weather.

Until next time,

Pat, Kathi, and Carla

SISTERS’ FUN AT SECOND BETTY

No pictures for this blog, just a report on the adventures of the Sisters this past weekend.  On Saturday, Kathi and I, along with our sister Carla, and her daughter (our niece) Britney participated in an exciting workshop.  We are always on the look-out for interesting sales, auctions, restaurants (especially tearooms, they have the best desserts!), antique and/or craft shops, or any fun and interesting activity.  We were fortunate enough to discover Second Betty, a delightful shop in Morton, IL that sells vintage furniture, antiques and gifts.Read More »

Weekend Trip!!!

Hello all!!  It is slowly getting warmer here in the Midwest.  Now we are having the April showers that hopefully bring our May flowers.  Pat and I, and our sisters Carla and Nancy, are planning a Sisters day trip this weekend.  We are going to a tearoom for lunch and some shopping.  We love to do these Sister days and we are always on the lookout for a new place to visit.  I plan on taking some picture of our outing, hopefully they turn out good…     Come back soon to see them.
