A while back, Murray and I were at a large auction. And I mean really large – three buildings stuffed with all kinds of treasures. There were so many great items but a few things immediately caught my eye – an old drop leaf table, a porcelain top table, and some very old and worn screen doors.
I featured the drop leaf table that I was able to get at this auction in a blog this past summer. You will also see that table in one of the pictures below.
The first thing I did was to lay the doors in the yard and hose them off. Should I leave them as they are? Should I paint them? What exactly was I going to do with them?
I decided that this door would hang on the wall in the spare bedroom. And since shades of blue are the primary color in that room, I knew Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg Blue would be the perfect color.
This is a rather long wall on which I had nothing hung. So I decided to hang the door lengthwise.
And center the drop leaf table beneath it! Two wonderful pieces of furniture that were rescued and given new life. Now my next decision – how do I decorate the screen door? A burlap wreath would look wonderful hanging from the screen door. I think I have found my next project. Stay tuned!!!
p.s. Sorry about the light at the top of the picture. I am certainly not a photographer!!!!
Thanks for stopping by.
