Living Room Refresh

As I, along with all of you, am anxiously waiting for Spring to be here and stay here, I thought I would share a couple of in-house projects that I have been working on.  It has been 19 years since we built the house.  Hard for me to believe!!!  So I have started refreshing some of the rooms.

In the last couple of years I have replaced the refrigerator and stove in the kitchen.  Not necessarily a refresh, but more like a had to situation!!!!

I decided that the living room was where I would start.

First, paint.  When we had the rooms painted about 10 years, we used Behr paint, which I really like.  So I stuck with Behr and decided to use Blank Canvas in all the rooms.  My painting crew, my children and grandchildren, Corey, Ryan, Allison, Lainey, El, and Nora, did a great job.

Here is a picture of the living room before.

All the furniture matched – sofa, love seat, oversized chair and ottoman.  Nineteen years ago I really loved this pattern!!

And here is the right side of the room as you enter from the dining room.  An off-white over-sized loveseat.  The picture above the loveseat is one that hung in Murray’s mom and dad’s living room.  The antique lamp also came from Murray’s mom.  I am not sure where I got the table.  I think at an auction.  It was down in the basement for a long time.  I am so glad I brought it up.

When we tore the old barn down at Murray’s childhood home, where Corey and his family now live, I wanted to save as many doors and wood as I could.  This is one of the doors.  I painted the “Blessed” sign on a piece of wood from the barn.  And that’s a picture of the old barn.

The antique secretary remains in it is place on the south wall.  An antique quilt hangs on an old ladder.  I love this light.  I got it from Kirklands.

Take a closer look at the antique pitcher and bowl set on the antique box.  But especially notice the hydrangeas.  I ordered them from Amazon.  I love them.  They feel and look so real.

And on the other side of the room – another off-white, over-sized loveseat!!  I love it!!  I bought the loveseats from Shermans.  The curtain is from Kirklands.

I moved this antique dresser from one of the spare bedrooms.  I really like it beneath the clock.

And finally, the chairs.  The bigger chair in the foreground is a recliner that I purchased from Lay-Z-Boy.  The smaller accent chair is from Wayfair.

And here is the completed living room.  I love it!!!  I love the paint, the furniture, and the mixing of old and new.  The room is so bright and fresh.
